Interpretations and Operations
While trying to remember the physics behind the springy bow and getting accustomed to the string theories (that is, in the sense of vibrations), it became clear that our orchestra is a beloved hodgepodge of many walks of life. Lawyers, engineers, students, among others, and each brings a unique view on the same piece before them. Of course, under maestro’s guidance and insight, there manages to be some sort of unified direction. There is a glue tying all of us together—and perhaps the same magic bridges all of us in the auditorium as the orchestra plays and the concertgoer listens.
Everyone comes from a different walk of life, sees life through different eyes, yet we can all be brought together by something as simple as a shared experience. Even if we may take away something completely different from the person sitting next to us—whether it be on stage or in the audience.
With three rehearsals to go, we are pooling our experience and our talents and we hope to share with you three works by three wonderful composers: Sibelius, Brahms, and Vaughan Williams. We will also be joined by Rachel Wong on the Sibelius—she is the winner of last year’s Don Bushell Concerto Competition. More on this as the rehearsals continue…
Come to the concert! Let’s share a common experience, yes? :)
