Phil • harmonic : Love of Sound
The Seattle Philharmonic stands for many things in our community. This is a place for music lovers to escape into a world of sound, an intellectual community where thoughts and ideas about music and art can be shared. Most importantly for me, the Phil represents an opportunity to interact with classical music in a way that is unique to this organization. Just as the orchestra’s patrons come from a variety of backgrounds and professions, so too do our musicians, therefore enabling the Phil to reach the collective in a way few other arts organizations can. The Philharmonic exists within the Puget Sound community not only to share remarkable music with its audience, but also to create open dialogue and the interchange of ideas. Sharing, communication: that is the Philharmonic, and we want you to be a part of it.
Today we’ve been given an incredible gift by photographer Paul Lebel: a project that was completed in collaboration with the Phil, but bares the unique artistic signature of Mr. Lebel’s creativity. This video is an invitation, both to our long time patrons and to those who do not yet know the Phil. An opportunity for a glimpse into the passion that goes into creating music.
If this video inspires you, stokes your curiosity, or creates questions in you mind, think of this blog as a forum for your thoughts. We encourage your feedback and your questions and look forward to an open dialogue online, and in person at our concerts.
